The fabricated steel behind a campus, from the interconnect to the hall: racks and frames, equipment skids and platforms, cable tray and busway supports, and the substation structures at the fence line — built to print, powder-coated or galvanized in-house, delivered in the sequence the rooms energize.
Every data center build has a long list of fabricated steel that isn't a transformer, a switchgear lineup or a generator but has to arrive before any of them can be set: the racks the batteries sit in, the skids the CDUs and pumps sit on, the platforms and mezzanines crews stand on, the supports that carry cable tray and busway through the electrical room, and the dead-ends and equipment stands in the substation at the fence. It is ordered by the hundreds, it is on the critical path, and it is usually split across a half-dozen local shops.
FabTek fabricates that scope as one product family at four plants in Hazlehurst, Mississippi — laser-cut and CNC-formed for repeatable hole patterns, welded to AWS D1.1/D1.3 by certified welders, powder-coated in-house or hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123, and staged to the site's energization sequence. It sits alongside the bus duct housings, switchgear enclosures, transformer cabinets and BESS and generator enclosures we build for the same campuses, so a developer or electrical contractor can buy the steel and the enclosures from one domestic source.

Hyperscale and colocation campuses, edge and enterprise data centers, and the substations and power blocks that serve them. Our data center guides cover the whole chain — what's inside a data center, how it gets power from the grid to the fence, inside the electrical room and how to source fabricated power equipment.
| Materials | ASTM A36 / A572 Gr. 50 structural; carbon sheet and plate; aluminum 5052; stainless hardware |
|---|---|
| Welding | AWS D1.1 structural, D1.3 sheet — certified and documented |
| Finish | In-house powder coat (IEEE 2000-hour salt-spray rated); hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123 for outdoor and substation steel |
| Design basis | Fabricated to the engineer of record's drawings and anchorage details; OSHA dimensions on platforms and stairs |
| Volume | Campus-scale repeat orders on dedicated lines — first article, then releases against the site schedule |
| Delivery | Sequenced to room energization; wrapped, labeled and staged by area |
| Documentation | MTRs with heat numbers, weld records, galvanizing certs, first-article inspection reports |

A campus order is a program: the same rack or skid hundreds of times, arriving in the order the rooms come online. FabTek runs it the way we run transformer cabinets at hundreds a month — first article against your inspection plan, fixtures locked, releases against the schedule, and a single point of contact when the sequence changes. Our guide to where data center builds get stuck explains why fabricated steel is on the critical path more often than anyone plans for.
