Before FabTek quotes or cuts, our engineers read your drawing set the way the shop will — and send back a written list of what will cost money, fail inspection or not fit, with a suggested fix for each.
Every fabrication drawing carries decisions that were made without a shop in mind: a bend radius tighter than the material allows, a weld called out on a face that will be powder coated, a flange pattern that doesn't match the mating equipment, a cutout that leaves a door too weak to hang. Each of those is a phone call from the shop floor, a delay, and often a change order. A design-for-manufacturing review finds them while they are still lines on a drawing.
FabTek's in-house engineering group — more than ten engineers and draftsmen — reviews every package this way as part of quoting, and offers it as a stand-alone service for OEMs and engineers who want a fabricator's eyes on a design before it is released. The review covers the things a fabricator knows and a designer may not: what our lasers, brakes, welding cells and powder coat lines can and can't do well, what the finish will show, what will fit the equipment it mates with, and where a small change saves real cost. The output is a written conflict report with a suggested resolution for each item, so the designer decides rather than the shop.
Bend radii, flange lengths, hole-to-edge distances, material and thickness checks against our cutting, forming and machining capabilities.
Weld callouts checked against the finish spec and the code; show-face welds, grinding and masking flagged.
Flange patterns, cutouts, door swings and mounting details checked against equipment submittals and layouts.
Features that add cost without adding function identified, with lower-cost alternatives suggested.
Tolerances, hardware and material callouts checked against what the drawing actually needs.
Every finding listed with a suggested resolution, returned before the quote or the cut.

Bend radii, weld callouts, finish, fit and tolerances checked against our equipment.

Every finding with a suggested resolution; you decide.

The package goes to quote and to the floor without questions.

Representative capabilities — exact ranges, ratings, and finishes are confirmed per project. Send drawings for a firm quote.
The most valuable DFM findings are not errors; they are the things that are technically correct and unnecessarily expensive — a tolerance tighter than the function needs, a weld where a formed corner would do, a part split in two that the laser could cut as one. FabTek's engineers see those because they program the machines that will make the part. Our post on the build-to-print spec package explains what a clean package looks like from the fabricator's side.

Built at four production sites in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.
ISO 9001:2015 quality management, AWS-certified welding, OSHA-compliant facilities.
In-house powder coat backed by an IEEE 2000-hour salt-spray certification.
Reserved-line capacity and the automation to grow with your volume.
A design-for-manufacturing review checks a drawing set against how it will actually be fabricated — cut, formed, welded, finished and fit — and reports conflicts and cost drivers with suggested fixes before anything is built.
FabTek Industries' in-house engineering group reviews every package it quotes and offers stand-alone DFM reviews for OEMs and engineers at its Hazlehurst, Mississippi plants.
DFM review is part of every FabTek quote. Stand-alone reviews of designs FabTek isn't yet quoting are scoped and priced on request.
We recommend; you decide. The conflict report gives a suggested resolution for each item and the designer or engineer of record approves the change.
