Most powder coat lines are built for parts a person can hang. A pad-mount transformer tank, a rolled conservator, a welded skid base or a twenty-foot busway housing is not that part. FabTek's second powder coat line is a heavy-duty monorail: a hanging track and carriers rated for the weight and length of tanks and weldments, running through pre-treatment, powder application and a cure oven sized to bring a heavy mass to temperature and hold it.
That is what lets FabTek powder coat a transformer tank body in-house rather than wet-paint it or send it out — and finish it in the same color lot as the cabinet it ships with. The monorail line also takes the long and heavy structural work that isn't galvanized: indoor platform steel, skid bases, equipment frames and busway housings. Parts arrive from the blast room with a fresh profile and leave with a recorded film thickness.
