A corrugated-wall tank turns the side of the tank into the cooling surface: thin steel is formed into deep, closely spaced fins that are welded at the edges to make sealed oil-filled channels, so the transformer sheds heat through the wall itself and the tank needs no detachable radiators. It is the standard construction for pad-mount and small station distribution transformers, and it lives or dies on two things — corrugation forming that stays consistent panel to panel, and the long edge welds that seal each fin without burn-through.
FabTek fabricates corrugated-wall tanks to OEM print at our Hazlehurst, Mississippi plants: corrugated panels edge-welded into sealed cooling channels, tank floors and frames laser-cut and welded, covers, flanges, bushing pads, drain and fill fittings, lifting lugs and cabinet-mounting provisions installed to print. Every tank is leak-tested before finish and powder-coated in-house to the OEM's color. We build the tank; the core-and-coil and the energized transformer stay with the OEM.
