Overview

A custom substation steel fabricator and supplier.

FabTek is a custom substation steel fabricator and supplier. We build the structural steel and support steelwork that holds a substation or switchyard together — A-frame, bus-support, and dead-end structures, equipment supports, and support steel, built to your drawings.

For utilities, public power, and EPC contractors, single-source fabrication means tighter tolerances and schedules you can plan around. Every structure is a domestic build under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.

Product Applications

Where they're used across the grid.

Substation support structures and steel form the backbone of every substation, holding transmission and distribution equipment in precise position under heavy mechanical and environmental load.

FabTek fabricates dead-end and A-frame structures, equipment supports, and heavy galvanized beam for utility-scale substation builds. EPC contractors and utilities depend on these structures to carry buswork, switches, transformers, and conductors safely for the multi-decade life of a substation.

How They're Made

One roof, every process.

Each build moves through our own shop end to end — no outsourced steps, including paint. That's how we hold tolerances and finish quality at volume.

Fabrication runs through our laser cutting, CNC press-brake forming, robotic plasma cutting, welding, and powder-coat finishing — see our full equipment and capabilities for the machines behind each step.

Frequently Asked

Common questions.

Does FabTek build substation structures to print?

Yes. We fabricate build-to-print and custom-spec substation structures and support steel, with AWS-certified welding.

What does FabTek fabricate for a substation?

The structural steel — A-frame, bus-support, and dead-end structures, equipment supports, and support steel — not the energized apparatus.

Do you supply switchyard steel and gantry structures?

Yes. Switchyard steel, gantry and goalpost structures, H-frame and A-frame strain structures, dead-ends, and bus supports are all standard work for us, fabricated to your drawings or PE-stamped design.

Do you galvanize, or only paint?

Both. Substation and switchyard steel is normally hot-dip galvanized to ASTM A123, and we also run in-house powder coat when the spec calls for it — including storm-hardening and coastal corrosion requirements.

Where are they manufactured?

All structures are manufactured in the United States at our facilities in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.
