Certified welders across MIG, TIG, laser and stud welding cells — structural steel to AWS D1.1, sheet metal to D1.3, stainless to D1.6 — for transformer tanks, cabinets, bus duct, substation structures and everything else FabTek builds.
Power-system fabrication spans three welding worlds. A substation dead-end structure is heavy structural steel welded to AWS D1.1. A transformer cabinet is thin sheet welded to D1.3 with a finish that will show every defect after powder coat. A 4X stainless enclosure or a sanitary conveyor is welded to D1.6 with ground and polished seams. A transformer tank has to hold oil under vacuum. Most shops are qualified for one of those; FabTek's welding cells are qualified for all of them, because the products we build require all of them.
The department is organized as cells — structural welding with positioners and manipulators for heavy weldments, sheet-metal cells for cabinets and enclosures, a stainless cell kept clean of carbon contamination, a laser welding cell for thin material and long seams, and stud welding for hardware — with certified welders, written weld procedures and documented inspection under our ISO 9001:2015 system. Every weldment carries the welder ID and inspection record for the customer's file.
Structural steel, sheet metal, stainless and aluminum welded to AWS D1.1, D1.3 and D1.6 with certified welders and written procedures.
Thin sheet and long seams welded with minimal heat input and distortion for cabinets, enclosures and stainless work.
Threaded studs, pins and insulation studs applied to cabinets, tanks and panels without through-holes.
Leak-tight tank bodies, covers and conservators welded and pressure or vacuum tested.
Dead-end structures, poles, stands, skids and platforms welded on positioners for full-penetration joints.
Continuous, ground and polished welds for 4X enclosures and washdown conveyors.

Parts tacked to the detail with weld maps on the fixture.

MIG, TIG, laser and stud welding by certified welders to AWS D1.1, D1.3 and D1.6.

Visual and dimensional checks with the records the code and the customer require.

Weldments move to the blast room and powder coat line on the same floor.

Transformer tanks and covers, substation structures and tubular poles, switchgear and control enclosures, bus duct and busway housings, sanitary conveyors and equipment skids and platforms. Welding-only work — weldments to a customer's drawings and procedures — is quoted as well.

Keeping structural, sheet-metal and stainless welding under one roof is only useful if each is done right, and that means separating them. FabTek runs a stainless cell with its own tooling and abrasives so carbon contamination never reaches a 4X enclosure; runs structural welding on positioners so a full-penetration joint is welded in position rather than overhead; and runs sheet-metal cells with the fixtures and heat control that keep a cabinet door flat. Our spec sheet on which welding code applies explains how the three differ, and ISO 9001 and AWS-certified welds covers the documentation.
