A data center campus has several fences: the substation fence with its grounding and clearance requirements, the generator and cooling-yard fences that screen and secure the plant, and the perimeter fence that the security consultant designs. Inside them are bollards at every door and dock, vehicle barriers at the gates, and the gates themselves, which on a hyperscale site are large, motorized and heavy. Chain link comes from a fence contractor; the welded steel panels, posts, bollards, gate frames and guard-house steel are fabrication.
