Structures, tanks, cabinets and conveyors modeled in 3D and detailed into the shop drawings, flat patterns and CNC programs FabTek's equipment runs from — so one model drives the coper, the laser, the brake and the fitter.
A fabrication is only as good as its shop details. The engineered drawing says what the structure or the cabinet must do; the shop details say how each member is cut, each blank is formed, each weld is made and each part is marked. FabTek's in-house engineers and draftsmen produce those details from a 3D model rather than from 2D drafting — usually starting from the customer's engineered drawings or model — because the model does more than make drawings — it programs the Voortman copers and the drill line, nests the laser, sequences the press brakes and generates the bill of material.
For structural packages that means Tekla-style detailing with DSTV/NC1 output to the robotic copers and drill line, erection drawings and match-marks. For cabinets, enclosures and tanks it means SolidWorks or Inventor models with flat patterns to the laser, bend sequences to the press brakes and weldment drawings to the cells. When a revision arrives, the model changes once and every downstream file follows.
Substation and transmission structures, stands, platforms and skids detailed in 3D with DSTV/NC1 output, erection drawings and match-marks.
Cabinets, enclosures and housings modeled with flat patterns, bend sequences and hardware.
Tank bodies, covers, conservators and accessories detailed with flange patterns and weld maps.
Conveyor systems and platforms designed and detailed from a site survey or specification.
Laser nests, coper and drill-line programs and press-brake sequences generated from the model.
Match-mark and erection drawings for the field crew; as-builts at shipment.

Structures, tanks, cabinets and conveyors built as a model, not redrawn in 2D.

Shop drawings, erection drawings, bolt lists and marks from the model.

DSTV to the copers and drill line; nests to the laser; sequences to the brakes.

What the erector's drawing shows is what was cut.

Substation structures and transmission packages, transformer tanks and covers, switchgear and transformer cabinets, conveyor systems, data center steel and bus duct runs. Detailing-only work — models and shop drawings for a customer's own shop — is quoted as well.

A substation structures package is released in stages and revised in between. With 2D drafting, each revision means someone re-checks every sheet the change touches. With a model, the change is made once and the coper program, the drill program, the erection drawing and the bolt list all regenerate from it. That is how FabTek keeps a multi-release package consistent, and it is why our robotic copers and drill line cut what the erector's drawing shows. Our post on the structures package walks through the flow.
