Chilled-water mains, condenser-water risers and technology-cooling loops cut, fitted and welded in the shop by Section IX welders — hydrotested, tagged to the isometric and shipped to the hall that needs them next.
A data center's cooling plant is a piping project. Chilled-water supply and return mains, condenser-water loops to the towers or dry coolers, and the technology-cooling-system loops that feed liquid-cooled racks run through every gallery and hall, in sizes from 2-inch branch lines to 36-inch headers. Welding that pipe in place means scaffolds, fire watches, weather, and a crew of pipefitters competing for floor space with every other trade. Spooling it in the shop means straight runs, elbows, tees and flanged ends arrive as numbered assemblies that bolt or weld together at a handful of field joints.
FabTek fabricates pipe spools at our Hazlehurst, Mississippi plants. We cut, bevel, fit and weld carbon and stainless pipe to ASME B31.1 and B31.3 with welders qualified to ASME Section IX, hydrotest every spool to the specification, mark it to the isometric, and ship it in the order the installation schedule calls for. Spools go out loose, or built into the manifolds and pre-piped skids from the same floor.
Carbon steel mains, risers and branch assemblies with weld-neck or slip-on flanges, grooved ends or butt-weld ends as specified.
Stainless and carbon spools for TCS loops to CDUs and rack manifolds, with cleanliness and passivation to the spec.
Large-bore headers with branch nozzles, tees and reducers welded in and supported for lifting.
Generator fuel lines and glycol loops to the same code and test regime.
Flange-to-flange and groove-to-groove spools sized to the contractor's field-joint plan.
Send the isometrics and the spec; we spool to them with weld maps and test records per spool.

Central utility plants and mechanical galleries at hyperscale and colocation campuses; chiller and pump rooms; rooftop and yard piping to cooling equipment; TCS distribution to liquid-cooled halls; and the fuel and glycol systems around generator yards. Mechanical contractors buy spools to cut field labor; developers and GCs specify shop spooling to hold the schedule; equipment integrators buy spools for their skids.

The right spool break is the one the installing crew can lift, set and join with the equipment they have in the room. FabTek works from the contractor's isometrics and field-joint plan, holds spools to transportable lengths and weights, and matches flange orientation and bolt-hole straddle so nothing has to be cut on site. Every spool is tagged to its isometric number and room, and shipments are staged by hall. Our guide to sourcing pipe spools for a data center covers what to send and how to split the scope.
