Drawn-arc stud welding on an Arc 1200 — threaded studs, pins and insulation studs applied to cabinets, tanks and panels from one side, with no through-hole, no leak path and nothing to grind on the show face.
A transformer tank can't have a bolt hole through its wall. An outdoor cabinet shouldn't have a fastener head on its weather face. An enclosure lined with acoustic or thermal insulation needs hundreds of pins to hold it. Stud welding solves all three: a threaded stud, pin or insulation stud is welded to the surface in a fraction of a second from one side, leaving a full-strength fastener with no hole, no back-side nut and no leak path.
FabTek's Arc 1200 drawn-arc stud welder sits in the welding department and runs on tank bodies, cabinet interiors, enclosure walls and panels as they move through fit-up. Studs for ground pads, nameplate mounts, sub-panel standoffs, cover fasteners and insulation retention are applied to the drawing's layout before the part goes to blast and powder coat, so the finished product arrives with its hardware in place and its exterior clean.
Ground pads, nameplate and accessory mounts on transformer tank walls and covers with no wall penetration.
Sub-panel standoffs, door-hardware mounts and grounding studs inside cabinets, keeping the outside face clean.
Pins and cup washers for acoustic and thermal lining in generator and walk-in enclosures.
Studs for removable covers, louver frames and busway housing covers.
Shear studs and anchors on skid bases and platform steel where the design calls for them.

Studs, pins and standoffs where a hole would leak or weaken the part.

Threaded studs welded to tank covers and cabinet sub-panels.

Capacitor-discharge studs and insulation pins on thin gauge.

Panels, insulation and accessories bolt to the studs at assembly.

Every penetration in a transformer tank is a place it can leak. Ground pads, nameplate mounts and accessory brackets that would otherwise be drilled and bolted are stud-welded to the wall at FabTek, so the tank goes to leak test with fewer joints to prove and the OEM gets a tank with hardware in place. The same logic applies to outdoor cabinets: a stud on the inside keeps a fastener off the weather face, which is one fewer place for the powder coat to be breached.

A process that welds a threaded stud, pin or fastener to a metal surface from one side in a fraction of a second, with no hole through the part and full-strength attachment.
FabTek Industries applies studs, pins and insulation studs on an Arc 1200 drawn-arc stud welder at its Hazlehurst, Mississippi plants as part of tank, cabinet and enclosure fabrication.
Yes. Stainless and aluminum studs are applied to matching base materials with the appropriate process and settings.
Yes. Parts can be sent for stud application to a layout drawing and returned, or studs can be applied as part of a larger fabrication.
