A Titan abrasive blast room with its own compressor, sized for transformer tank bodies, structural weldments and heavy parts — blast to the SSPC profile the coating calls for, then straight to the powder coat line.
Blasting does two things a coating needs: it strips mill scale, rust, spatter and old paint down to bare metal, and it leaves a measured anchor profile the coating grips. A blast room large enough for a tank body or a welded skid, with enough air to keep a nozzle productive on heavy steel, is what makes that practical on the parts FabTek builds. Ours is a Titan blast room with a dedicated compressor, media recovery and the floor space to walk around a tank.
Parts come to the blast room from welding, are blasted to the profile the coating specification requires — SSPC SP 6 commercial for most powder coat, SP 10 near-white where the spec demands it — and go directly to the monorail or automated powder coat line before the surface can flash. Profile and cleanliness are checked and recorded. The same room prepares structural steel for galvanizing through partners and takes blast-only work for customers.
Tank bodies, covers and conservators blasted to profile ahead of powder coat.
Skids, platforms, stands and frames blasted for powder coat or ahead of galvanizing.
Welded bodies blasted to remove spatter and scale before pre-treatment.
Old paint and corrosion stripped from customer equipment for recoat.
Customer parts blasted to a specified profile and returned or primed.

Tank bodies, weldments and structural parts sized for the room.

Dedicated compressor and media recovery; SSPC SP 6 or SP 10 as specified.

Checked before the part moves.

Directly to the powder coat line before flash rust.

Transformer tanks and accessories, equipment skids and platforms, cabinets and enclosures, conveyor frames and customer parts for refurbishment or finish-only work.

A blast cabinet handles brackets; a blast room handles tanks. FabTek built the room around the largest parts we finish in-house — pad-mount and power tank bodies, welded skid bases, long busway housings — with a compressor that keeps the nozzle productive on heavy plate. The payoff is that a tank goes from the last weld to a coated finish in one building on one schedule, which is what a transformer OEM's line date depends on.
Built at four production sites in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.
ISO 9001:2015 quality management, AWS-certified welding, OSHA-compliant facilities.
In-house powder coat backed by an IEEE 2000-hour salt-spray certification.
Reserved-line capacity and the automation to grow with your volume.
The blast room is sized for transformer tank bodies, structural weldments and long housings; send the drawing and we will confirm.
FabTek Industries blasts tanks, skids, platforms and structural steel in a Titan blast room at its Hazlehurst plants, feeding two in-house powder coat lines and galvanizing partners.
SSPC SP 6 commercial blast is typical for powder coat; SP 10 near-white where the specification requires it. Profile is measured and recorded.
Yes. Blast-only and blast-and-prime work is quoted and scheduled around your coating window.
