Heavy welded vessels for medium and large power transformers — plate-wall tanks with radiator headers or integral cooling fins, stiffened for vacuum and pressure, with covers, conservator interfaces and lifting and jacking provisions built to print.
A power transformer tank is heavy plate — walls, floor and cover stiffened with channels and beams — that has to hold vacuum during oil filling, hold positive pressure in service, carry a core-and-coil weighing tens of tons without distorting, and present radiator, bushing and conservator interfaces exactly where the drawing puts them. Shrinkage from long structural welds is the enemy; fixturing, weld sequencing and post-weld dimensional checks are how it's controlled.
FabTek fabricates power transformer tanks and large welded vessels to OEM print at our Hazlehurst, Mississippi plants: plate processed on robotic plasma and waterjet, walls and stiffeners fitted and welded in sequence to AWS D1.1 by certified welders, radiator headers and flanges or integral cooling fins installed to print, covers and conservator interfaces machined flat where specified, and the whole vessel leak-tested, with pressure and vacuum testing to the OEM's requirement, before blast and finish. Overhead-crane capacity at our Terry site handles the heavy and oversized work. We build the tank; the transformer stays with the OEM.
Plate-wall tanks with radiator headers, valves and mounting for detachable radiator banks.
Tanks with integral cooling fins for medium power units.
Bolted covers, conservator vessels and piping interfaces, bushing turrets and cable boxes. See tank covers & conservators.
Skid bases, jacking pads, lifting lugs, transport bracing and anchoring provisions.
